160 years of rope history - this year we celebrate our 160th anniversary.
We celebrated EDELRID's 160th birthday with a lavish party and a large-scale open day on May 27, 2023. More than 3,000 visitors took this opportunity to get to know our rope factory at the traditional location in Isny in the Allgäu. The whole day was dedicated to climbing rope and mountain sports.
At upcycling stations, children and adults were allowed to make new things out of rope scraps, a Rope Rally led through the history of the company with riddle questions, and those who were into more action could let off steam on the Flying Fox or the Highline. The guests were also enthusiastic about the trial climbing and bouldering. The event was flanked by a diverse lecture program with international athletes*.
"We are so happy that we can celebrate this day here today in fantastic weather. And that is not a matter of course, after the many ups but also downs that the company has experienced over the many decades," said a delighted Vitus Wuhrer, EDELRID Managing Director. "I am particularly pleased that we were able to express our long-standing ties with the town of Isny and therefore wanted to invite especially those interested from the region."
To all those who were unable to experience this day, we recommend a visit to the Isny town museum, where the history of the company - from its founding with fishing lines to the catastrophic fires - is vividly presented. Included are numerous found and exhibited items from earlier times, including the legendary 80s climbing leggings. The exhibition runs until July 16, 2023.
